Contact Lens Exams

Contact Lenses with the Perfect Fit,
Feel, and Function

At St. Johns Eye Associates, we provide an eye care experience like no other, and that includes how we examine and fit you for contact lenses! We offer thorough exams, personalized fittings, a variety of contact lens brands, and doctors who won’t settle for anything less than your complete satisfaction.

Why Are Contact Lens Exams Important?

Contact lenses are only effective if they fit properly, which is where our contact lens exams come in. These exams help us determine your contact lens prescription, which is different from that of your eyeglass’s prescription because the lenses sit directly sit on your eyes, instead of in front of them. We also use contact lens exams to check for conditions like dry eye or keratoconus, which can affect whether your eyes are healthy enough for standard contacts, or if you require a different approach through specialty lenses.

During your visit, we’ll get to know you to better understand your hobbies and lifestyle and select an option that will serve you best!

In your contact lens exam, we’ll determine two key things: your contact lens prescription and the status of your eye health. With advanced technology, we assess all aspects of your vision to a “T.” Our doctors will also get to know how you use your vision, so we can determine the optimal contact lens design for your lifestyle.

Since your eyes are completely unique to you, contacts need to adhere to your exact eye shape to provide peak vision correction and comfort. To get the most precise dimensions of the front of your eye, we use the OCULUS Keratograph® 5M corneal topographer. This device also has built-in functions to test other parts of your eye health that help us decide which contact lenses would be best for you.
