While contact lenses are an excellent corrective option for many, some patients have what are often called “hard-to-fit” eyes, which can make it difficult and frustrating to find contact lenses that are comfortable and effective.
At SJEA, we perform contact lens examinations and fittings, which provide us with all of the information we require to help you find the contact lenses that fit comfortably and function the way they are supposed to; providing clear, comfortable vision.
Request an appointment today; we will work with you to find the right contact lenses.
Before we can fit you for new contact lenses, we must perform a thorough eye examination. This special exam serves two purposes. The first is to determine your appropriate contact lens prescription. Contact prescriptions are different from eyeglass prescriptions, so we need to ensure we have the correct and most up-to-date prescription information.
The second purpose is to ensure your eyes are healthy enough to wear contact lenses comfortably. Many conditions such as dry eye and keratoconus make regular contact lenses difficult to wear. While these conditions do not necessarily exclude you from contact lens use, they may impact what kind of contact lenses you can wear.
Your eyes are as unique as your fingerprints. To help us find your ideal contact lenses, we need to measure your eyes. We use special technology to record the dimensions of each eye in exceptional detail, which helps us find the lenses that are most likely to work well for you.
Both of our locations are specially equipped with OCULUS Keratograph 5 M topographers. Designed using cutting edge corneal topographical technology this instrument allows your optometrist to examine your meibomian glands (which play an essential role in tear production) and analyze your tear film.
Once we have all of the necessary data, we will recommend the contact lenses that we think will work best for your needs. We will send you home with a sample pair of contact lenses to try out. If the sample contacts we give you work well and feel comfortable, we will write you a prescription for them, which can be filled at either of our locations.
If the sample contact lenses do not seem to function properly or do not feel quite right, we will give you a different pair of lenses to try. Occasionally, this process can take several attempts, however, there is no need to feel discouraged. We will continue to work with you until we find the appropriate contact lenses just for you.
Tired or heavy eyes and challenging environments are the number 1 complaints users have with contact lenses. Acuvue’s innovative HydraLuxe™ with tear like properties keep your eyes moisturized all day, leaving you feeling comfortable and able to focus. Performance and excellent vision give patients the peace of mind they need in a disposable lens.
